Billy Elliot – The Musical

Drop your boxing gloves and put on your dancing shoes, because Billy Elliot The Musical is coming to town.

Billy Elliot, the multi-award-winning musical is coming to Philadelphia’s Academy of Music from November 16-27 and we couldn’t be more excited! The musical is based on the international smash-hit film, Billy Elliot (if you couldn’t already guess). It features music by Elton John, the book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling, and direction by Stephen Daldry.

For those of you who have never heard of Billy Elliot, it is a story and celebration of a boy’s journey to make his dreams come true.  It takes place in a small town, following Billy as he walks out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a talent that will eventually inspire his family and his entire community, changing his life forever.

The musical has gotten quite amazing reviews. The New York Observer raves that Billy is “The best thing to happen to Broadway in a long while,” and we couldn’t agree more.  The heartwarming story of a child fighting stereotypes and following his dreams is something that we can all relate to in one way or another.  Make sure you book your tickets soon – we have a feeling these will go fast!
